Description:
Faces of the Moon No. 3 is an original hand-made linocut print inspired by the enduring human habit of seeing faces in the moon.
Rather than simply depicting lunar phases, this artwork transforms each stage of the moon into a stylized human face. As shadow moves across the sequence, the moon appears to change expression — briefly disappearing into darkness before returning again.
The title Faces of the Moon reflects this playful idea: the moon’s phases become faces, revealing the human impulse to find familiar forms within nature.
The artwork is created using the traditional linocut technique. The design is carefully carved into a linoleum block, inked with oil-based printing ink, and pressed onto thick white paper.
This slow, analogue process produces rich textures and subtle variations, meaning no two prints are ever completely identical.
Only three original prints of this design exist, making each one a rare and collectible piece of handmade printmaking.
