Sisters of the sea
About swimming down the stream to new beginnings, and letting yourself be open to magic and wonder.
Filling my world with wonder
I painted this collection when I was pregnant with my little girl. The moment I felt those first little kicks from my baby, an image took root in my mind: a tiny mermaid, playfully swimming within me, filling my world with wonder. Each movement felt like a spark of inspiration, so I began a collection of mermaid paintings, each one woven with that magic and joy.
Mysteries of the deep
Mermaids have enchanted us for centuries, their tales flowing through art and mythology across the globe. The symbol of the mermaid varies from culture to culture and time to time, and in some accounts they’re symbols of life, mystery, and fertility. In this collection, I’ve embraced the mermaid as a symbol of new beginnings and vibrant energy.

Bring a little whimsy to your space
I wanted these paintings to feel playful and joyful, a perfect fit for a nursery. But their color and whimsy lend themselves just as beautifully to a beach house, a cozy bathroom, or the living space of anyone who loves color and the allure of the sea.
Although the thought of having a little mermaid swimming around inside of me was exciting and magical, I was still pretty relieved when she came out and I saw she had tiny legs and feet instead of a tail.
The process
The paintings in this collection are all painted on wooden boards coated with a thick layer of crushed pumice rocks, to create a very unique texture - pumice is a kind of volcanic rock, that is created in eruptions - and a final layer of oil paint is gently painted on top of the pumice.
