Description:
An original oil painting featuring a small tree growing out of a teacup bearing different botanical elements like a violet flower with a human face inside, a passion flower, a leaf from a mugwort plant, and some lavender, as well as a human eye, to show an animated depiction of the natural world.
All botanical elements in this painting have an affinity for the so called "third eye". The third eye (or inner eye) is a mystical and spiritual concept representing a state of enlightenment, intuition, and perception beyond ordinary sight.
The muted purple and red green make this painting fit in most spaces easily and inoffensively.
☞ Official Observation No. 022: This painting will gladly live with a person with any number of eyes.
Collection:
This painting belongs to the series, A Kin To Life, a collection of 13 original textured oil paintings made with natural materials exploring the concept of interconnectedness and kin in nature.
The concept of interconnectedness and "kinship" in nature shifts our worldview from seeing humans as masters over nature to seeing humans as members of nature. Read the full story about the collection HERE.
Materials:
This collection of paintings are made with a very innovative process using recycled or natural materials to create a unique look and feel, and be a little more sustainable.
The paintings are painted on heavy boards made from recycled milk cartons, which have been coated with a thick layer of crushed pumice rocks mixed with a number of other natural materials like sand, hay, and clay powder, to create a very unique texture.
Pumice is a kind of volcanic rock, that is created in eruptions.
Finally a layer of oil paint has been painted on top of the textured surface in neutral tones and simplistic imagery.
The oil paint used for these paintings is made from a plant-based oil and pure pigments.
Frame and finish:
The painting comes framed in the dark oak frame featured on the pictures, ready to hang, signed on the back, and with a certificate of authenticity. The frame is glassless to show off the beautiful texture in this painting.
